The Descriptive Paragraph

Red Riding Hood

Who is the wolf? I thought as I walked into the woods. Grandma always warned me, she used to tell me every day “Red, wear your cape before you leave the house! There’s a wolf in the loose, I don’t want you to get hurt.”
One day I woke up, and something hit my window. A rock I guess, I was frightened “What could it be?” Some guy popped out from the woods. His name was John, a guy who I fell in love with. He used to climb to my window on the nights, and we used to talk until the sunrise.
One day I woke up as usual, but there was something strange… Footprints, traces of the wolf. They were coming out from my window. Was John the wolf? I started searching for him, he was working in the woods. I told him we needed to talk. We went somewhere with more privacy, and I asked him. He wasn’t sure, he didn’t think so. He was confused, so he decided that in the next full moon I was going to tie him up in a tree. And that’s how it was, I tied him up in a tree that was very far away from the village. But something was strange. On the full moon he didn’t change. I changed. I am the wolf, I unconsciously ate my boyfriend. I was scared when I woke up. I panicked, I was wrong. I went through the woods, the deeper the better. I started to run far away from everything, crying my heart out. Noticing I was the beast everyone was scared of, even my grandmother, even me. But I suddenly fell, something hit me, an arrow. My grandma knew everything, she knew how to control me. She knew my weakness, silver arrows and my cape. My red cape, the one I used to hate it was the one who transformed me back into a human shape. I passed out…
I remembered in my dream when I was eating the love of my life, his blood running in my mouth. I suddenly woke up in my house. Sad and desperate, with many questions and doubts.  I asked my grandma and she told me about the cape, and my mother… the previous wolf.

Grammar Activities

Chinese Folktale

The night is clear when you can see the shadows on the moon. According to an old chinese folktale, they are shadows of the cinnamon tree  in the moon. This tree came to be becuse of the laziness of an immortal Wu Kang.

Wu Kang was in charge of guarding the dragon. However, he was lazy. He drank wine whenever he often allowed the dragon to run away. One day he went to Mount K'un Lun. He was there when he met some friends/ They began to drink, compose poems, and throw a dice. He continued to drink, even after the night came. He drank some more until he became completely tipsy. He saw some fellows playing chess after that he asked to join them. They advised him to go home because they knew he was being negligent, buut Wu Kang offered to wager the dragon's pearl. They playedd a few moves of the gam until Wu Kang lost the pearl. He had wagered and lost the dragon pearl as soon as he wagered and lost the mighty dragon. The immortals heard of the loss after that they were furious. They immediately sowed a pearl in the ground and a tall cinnamon tree grew from it. The tree reached a great high, after that they gave Wu Kang an axe and told him to cut off branches. He had to cut  all of the braches before bigger ones sprouted and grew. Wu Kang is still there to this day cutting off branches. As soon as you see shadows on the moon, you will know that they are branches of the cinnamon tree falling.

The Writing Process

Who has been an inspirationin your life, that is not related to you? Why did he/she inspire you?

An inspiration in my life is Jesus. He is an inspiration because he was good, loyal and he gave love to everyone. Jesus died for me and you on the cross. He paid for my sins, he has loved every single part of me. He loves everyone, he hates the sin but loves the sinners. Jesus has showed me how to love my "enemies", to have patience and to always be sincere. His love conquers all,he rised from the death and now he is my defense in Heaven because the Father forgives us through him. Jesus gave his life so I would live, so I would have an eternal life. And just like this he receivesnall my adoration, he is my inspiration, for loving me and giving me hope that I can be better. And I know that if I follow him I'll be better little by little. He is salvation, once he said: "I am the way, the truth and the life". And I'll always follow him because he is love, and I love him, my savior. Amen

Discussion:

1. Think about a holiday that you have enjoyed again and again. What is the best part of it for you? Why?

-  The holiday that I enjoy the most is new year's eve. My favorite part of this holiday is when the whole family gathers together in the middle of the regressive countdown and when we hug each other when the clocks marks midnight. It looks sweet when everybody is talking to each other while in a positive mood and enjoying the fireworks. It only happens once every year, so I like to make the most out of it and make it as memorable as possible.

2. This paragraph describes the joys of a holiday. Some people find holidays very stressful. What can be stressful about a holiday celebration? What are the best ways to focus on the joy rather than the stress?

-  Some things that can cause an individual stress on a holiday is the loss of a relative and the fact that you can't spend time together with them, bad memories about something that took place on that day in the past and the bad experiences you've had. To avoid stress, you can focus on the positive things like the music, the loving atmosphere around you and the variety of food in the room.
